| pinkfloyd85 | Feb 3, 2007 4:03pm | This is a bit odd, but I really want to know if anybody has some similar experiences, because this remains a mystery to me... I often feel the need to do something for other people. That's maybe not very unusual, but the thing is that the feeling sometimes intensifies alarmingly... (It also happens sometimes after drinking alcohol [even a single beer can trigger it] by the way, although then it's much stronger). It feels as if I'm filled with air, as if my heart is swollen, and I could take on the whole world. No anger, just a feeling, a need to do something great hopefully violent, because my chest is about to burst with suppressed surging energy... Over the years I've learned to control it to some extent, but still I have no explanation of this and it *does* happen from time to time still. I can suppress the feeling, but it is quite unpleasant still.
Anyone with similar experiences? Any thoughts perhaps on what this thing might be? |

a) are you an INFJ?
b) are you sure your symptoms are in no way connected with excessive alchool consumption...:)? |
|

| pinkfloyd85 | Feb 4, 2007 8:49am | a: Yes. I'm certain.
b: no, I drink rarely (and I do mean *rarely*)
Tell me your thoughts on this since I've met the above mentioned criteria ;] |

With you it sounds more like there are other triggers that you have not yet identified.
Anyway, that what it looks like from where I'm standing...:)
And let's not forget that this profile has this profile:
"INFJs are champions of the oppressed and downtrodden. They often are found in the wake of an emergency, rescuing those who are in acute distress. INFJs may fantasize about getting revenge on those who victimize the defenseless. The concept of 'poetic justice' is appealing to the INFJ."
Also:
"Extraverted Feeling
Extraverted feeling, the auxiliary deciding function, expresses a range of emotion and opinions of, for and about people. INFJs, like many other FJ types, find themselves caught between the desire to express their wealth of feelings and moral conclusions about the actions and attitudes of others, and the awareness of the consequences of unbridled candor. "

| pinkfloyd85 | Feb 4, 2007 11:39am | "Poetic justice" - that's quite close to the feeling I'd say, yes that's pretty much like it, a sort of strange need for, well... something like self sacrifice. I *did* once think about choosing a career in the police force, guess I shouldn't though. You see, that state, when it appears sort of disables or overrides my anger and/or fear, so I'm ready to do what's "right" at the time *not* necessarily thinking about my own safety. Like I said before it's pretty strange... It might be this type of personality with some of it's aspects hmm enhanced so to speak. Ok, I'm going back to Real Life - got an exam tomorrow, wish me luck ;]
Nice cartoon btw ;]
Cheers!

| CD-Hypnotica | Mar 1, 2007 4:15am | | I have the the same. In my opinion, it's mostly a strong intuition, sensing there's something wrong with someone and an extreme need to help them. That kind of fits in the rest of the profile; having the need to solve a problem once you come across one. |

| pinkfloyd85 | Mar 1, 2007 2:20pm | | Might be... When do you get it? I mean for me it's random, can happen any part of day, anywhere. What exactly does it feel like for you? (you're the first person that confirms having a similar experience to this, so I'd really like to pick your brain, I'd like to understand it better) |
